Our Graduate Wins an Emmy!
"Turned out to be one of the smartest things I've ever done." - Marcy Brown
Brown grew up in Shaker Heights and might be here still, she says,
if she'd been able to find a job as a writer when she came home after Beloit College
in 1984. Instead, she enrolled in the English Nanny School, which "turned out to
be one of the smartest things I've ever done. I received training in child development
that has been irreplaceable in what I do now."
Her one and only job as a nanny brought her to Los Angeles. In her free time she
took a comedy-writing class. She loved writing and had sold work in advertising
and greeting cards, but she didn't know whether she could be a comedy writer in
L.A. "I knew I was funny, but was I just Ohio funny?"
