English Nanny
& Governess School trains nannies and college degreed
governesses at our campus in the historic village of Chagrin
Falls, Ohio. University level faculty and renowned specialists
in a wide range of disciplines lead our unique three-month
academic and training program. During the academic session,
classes are held five days a week, both on campus and
off-campus at locations such as the Cleveland Museum of
Art, Museum of Natural History , Chagrin Valley Art Center
, Holden Arboretum, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and the Viking
Culinary Center. The following are the five core areas
addressed by the academic curriculum:

Child Growth, Behavior, and Development: The
Socialization of the Child; Ages and Stages, Etiquette
and Values
2.
Cultural Enrichment: Language Development and
Childhood Literature, Art Application and Appreciation,
Creative Play, Music Appreciation and Experiential Education
3.
Child Care and Health: Nutrition, Hygiene, Health
Care and Life Saving Techniques
4.
Safety and Security: Safe Driver Training, Martial
Arts, Personal Protection, Police Security, Fire Safety,
Boating Safety, and Equestrian Skills
5.
Nanny Professionalism: Inter and Intrapersonal
Communication, Family Dynamics, Interviewing Procedures,
Household Management and Travel Protocol
6.
Newborn and Toddler Practicum:
Weekly experience caring for children in a private
home, supervised by a qualified parent. The practicum
gives students hands on experience in applying classroom
theory and training.
